Josh and I are starting a new blog series today that helps couples choose their vendors! Over the years we have worked with a ton of vendors and we have compiled a list of people who we would reccommend to our couples. First, we want to introduce you to Krissy Campbell of Simply Be So Events. Not only is she an incredible wedding planner but she is OUR wedding planner! When we first started planning our wedding, we didn’t think we needed a planner. After doing so many weddings, we thought we could handle it. But this past June, I worked with Krissy at a wedding and she was amazing!! After seeing her organization, bubbly personality, and helpfulness, I knew we had to have her apart of our wedding. She added so much to the day and that just shows how amazing she is at her job! Josh and I met up with Krissy and her husband Chad a few weeks ago for some headshots and now we want to be best friends with them! Here is a little interview so our readers can get to know her better!
Tell us a little about you and your company!
As for me, I grew up in a small town in northwest Indiana and moved to South Bend, Indiana to attend Bethel
College. Since I was a girl, I have always LOVED event planning and styling – anything, everywhere. I quickly
learned that it truly was an art to bring people together to create a space that fits the purpose and people it
represents. It takes organization, creativity, and constant interaction with lots of people…and I love that!
Simply Be So Events has been a long time dream of mine that has been in the works for several years as we
have walked through open doors and taken on new opportunities. Simply Be So specializes in event planning
and design. We absolutely love “creating spaces” for people that reflect who they are and allow those involved
to experience an atmosphere of life and joy. Hospitality has been such an important value for my husband and I
and our families. Welcoming others into a space that is life-giving no matter who you are is how we want to live
our life. Simply Be So is born out of this desire. No matter where we go, we want Simply Be So to exude these
values in everything we offer our clients and their guests.

What are some advantages of hiring a wedding planner?
Often hiring a wedding planner is seen as an “extra” for those that have large budgets and elite style. However,
we hear from clients over and over again that after working with a planner, they cannot imagine going without
the value they bring. Here are a few advantages to hiring a planner:
1) YOUR Budget– It can be intimidating to spend additional money on a planner when the rest of your
event costs seem to be constantly looming, but when you look at the fact that a planner has worked
with many vendors in the area and has great connections with those that specialize in what they do, a
planner can get you the best value for your budget. A planner not only will often charge their fees
within your budget, but may also score you a better vendor price through the relationships they have.
2) Vision Casting – Most people feel the weight of the event having to be all that they or others have
dreamed it to be. Just like building or choosing your own house for your family, an event will require
you to make so many decisions that it can become easy to lose sight of what you were wanting to
create in the first place. A planner can be a guide in creating your vision and carrying it out in a way
that keeps you from having to take on all of the pressure that can come with that. Don’t think that you
have no control over your wedding when you hire a planner. Working together to create the
atmosphere and space that truly reflects you and your fiancé is what will help make your event what
you have always hoped it would be.
3) Organizational Help – A planner flourishes within the details. For most of us, planning an event on top
of the rest of the demands of life and preparing for this new season together can be completely
overwhelming. Planners relieve you of the stress of making sure you have brought all the details
together to make the day run smoothly leading up to the event and the day of. A planner helps you
create a plan to check off your to-do list and allows you to breathe knowing the details that you may
otherwise have forgotten or didn’t have time for will not go unnoticed.
4) Day of Coordination – Bringing together the details you dreamed of and worked through leading up to
the event is one of the most significant advantages of hiring a planner. The last thing you or a family
member will want to do on the day of your wedding is to be bombarded with thousands of questions
and concerns as everything comes together. Part of creating spaces for events is orchestrating all the
people and details the day of so that you can simply be present in enjoying the moments.
5) Flexibility – A planner helps alleviate you of the pieces of the planning that you or a family member may
rather not do, like contacting all your vendors, creating the timeline, running rehearsal, or being the
contact person the day of. With most planners you have the flexibility to do as much or as little as you
would like in the process depending on the package you choose. A planner enhances and brings the
vision together to make the experience and event as meaningful as you would like it to be.
What is the difference in the packages you offer?
I have three different packages, but depending on the needs of the couple, I am very flexible with what we
offer! We offer full service planning, which includes vision casting, budget management, timeline creation,
vendor communication and recommendation, design, rehearsal direction, and day of coordination with an
assistant. We also offer partial planning, which picks up at about four weeks from the event and includes
timeline creation, vendor communication, rehearsal direction, and day of coordination. Lastly, we offer two 2
hour event consultations or an al a carte of sorts where you could pick and choose what you need help with the
most. However, neither of these include actual day of coordination. Our packages start at $500.
What made you want to be a wedding planner?
After years of producing various types of events for so many different types of people or organizations, I always
came back to one thing – I can’t get over how life-giving it is to bring people and details (my favorite things )
together and see a vision come to life. I found that my skills and passion came together in this thing called
event planning! Weddings in particular are my favorite because I truly believe in the importance of celebrating
marriage and family, and if we can be a part of encouraging that and adding value to more than just your
wedding day, we are all about it! Plus the creativity, beauty, and romance is so much fun!
How long have you been a professional wedding planner?
As Simply Be So…less than a year
What is the best part of your job?
I absolutely love seeing the event come together. I love bringing all the people and pieces together and
watching as others experience the space and atmosphere that’s been created for them to enjoy. It is extremely
rewarding, especially after you have gotten to know your couples so well.
What is the one best piece of advice you can offer to engaged couples?
Enjoy this time! In the long run, engagement can be a short and unique season you have with your significant
other. Do marriage counseling, embrace the moments of anticipation and excitement, and be sure to remember
to take time to just enjoy one another without thinking and discussing the wedding day. You have your whole
marriage in front of you!
What do you like to do when you are away from work?
Anything outside, going on walks or runs, reading, baking, exploring new places, watching Netflix with my
hubby, having good conversation over coffee, and simply spending time with the people I love most.
What is one fun fact about you?
I love to travel and enjoyed a four month study abroad in the Dominican Republic where I learned to love
connecting people of all backgrounds and cultures even more! There, I got to jump off at least ten 25-30 foot
waterfalls while hiking some of the tallest mountains in Central America.
